Young Women of Mowanjum
Creativity and Wellbeing Workshops
Young Women of Mowanjum is a month-long creative wellbeing program designed to support young women from the Mowanjum Community through art, music, writing, mindfulness, and cultural connection.
The project creates a safe, welcoming space where women can explore self-expression, creativity, and reflection in their own way — whether through painting, poetry, song, or quiet mindfulness. There’s no pressure to produce an artwork or performance; instead, the focus is on nurturing wellbeing, confidence, and connection to self, culture, and community.
Supported by Mowanjum Art Centre, World Vision, Bibimbiya Jan-ga Buru and CITS, this initiative highlights the importance of creativity as a pathway to healing, empowerment, and resilience. By centring women’s voices and providing a culturally grounded environment for expression, Young Women of Mowanjum celebrates the strength, spirit, and stories of Mowanjum women while supporting positive wellbeing outcomes for the wider community.
